Very many thanks from the committee and young musicians in Poole Society for young musicians for the generosity of WYMT towards this term’s music education activities.
Our year is now full of great activities directed by a large number of incredibly inspiring tutors. The little Mini Maestros academy on a Monday evening is busy with Cathy’s brilliant fun class, Mezzo maestros ensemble and instrumental lessons. This was started due to current lack of music lessons in most state schools now. As the children don’t even sing at all in most primary schools now, something that we took for granted in years gone by, so musical awareness is now poor.
Cathy’s class builds the necessary skills to enable instrumental learning.
Our 2nd senior Camerata session of the term takes place this Sunday afternoon. This week, all the woodwind principals are taking workshops, BSO musicians taking string chamber music in quartets and piano trios (46 youngsters) with a tutti Camerata of 30 learning Schubert.
This week Catherine Martin from RCM & leader of Gabrieli consort is directing the strings and in 2 weeks it will be our resident Kyan string quartet from RAM.
Again, please pass on a heartfelt thank you to WYMT and anyone is welcome at any time to attend our events at any point or end of project concerts. Our final session with Kyan Quartet will be on 25th Feb at Broadstone Methodist church but there’ll also be a final show case at Castle court this term on 26th November at 4.45pm which will include an array of wind and string chamber music.
